Association of the Perpetual Lamp

in honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Established with the permission of Archbishop Tweedy at the Carmelite Monastery, Tasmania, in 1948.

Membership

To become a member of this Association it is necessary to have one’s name enrolled at the Monastery, with the appropriate subscription ($10 per person). No special prayers are of obligation. Members, however, are recommended to unite themselves with the prayers and sacrifices of the Carmelite Nuns, especially through a fervent reception of the Sacraments. A relative or friend, living or dead, may be enrolled as a member.

Privileges of Members

  1.  The members of the Association, living and dead, share in the Masses, prayers and sacrifices of the Carmelite Nuns.

  2. Holy Mass is offered once a month for members and their intentions.

  3. A Lamp burns continually before the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a symbol of the members sharing in these prayers and sacrifices.

If you wish to enrol someone in the lamp please write or send us a message. Note: We can only post via regular mail within Australia and are not able to enrol members from other countries. We thank you for your understanding.
