The History of Carmel
As we seek to live the Teresian Carmelite charism handed on to us, we first turn to those who have lived our vocation faithfully in the past, grateful for their example and inspiration. A strong awareness of our roots allows us to build on solid foundations for living in Carmel in the 21st century.
Life in Tasmania
Our Island State is renowned for its unique beauty, a reflection of God’s beauty inscribed in our landscape. Together with our temperate climate, smaller population and gentler pace of life, this makes Tasmania naturally conducive to prayer and recollection, an ideal setting for the purely contemplative life of Carmel.
Those Who Have Gone Before Us
Each Sister who has gone before us has made a unique contribution to our Carmel. With deep gratitude for their hidden lives of prayer and sacrifice, offered with joy and fidelity for the glory of God and the good of the Church, especially here in Tasmania, we commend them to the merciful love of the Lord. We invite you to join us in praying for the eternal repose of their souls.
Requiescat in pace.
