Christmas — Midnight Mass

The first reading from the prophet Isaiah (9:1-7) speaks to us of “a child born for us, a son given to us and dominion is laid on his shoulders; and this is the name they give him: Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince of Peace.”

In the second reading (Titus 2:11-14) Paul tells us that “God’s grace has been revealed, and it has made salvation possible for the whole human race.”

The Gospel (Luke 2:1-14) tells us of the birth of Jesus and the message of the angels to the shepherds “Today in the town of David a saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”

Christmas Dawn Mass — 8:30am

In the first reading the Lord speaking through the prophet Isaiah (62:11-12) says “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Look, your saviour comes”.In second reading Paul speaks of God’s goodness saying “When the kindness and love of God our saviour for mankind were revealed, it was not because he was concerned with any righteous actions we might have done ourselves; it was for no reason other than his compassion that he saved us.”In the Gospel (Luke 2:15-20) the shepherds hurry to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger and we are told that Mary “treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
